







The municipality - a former district seat over which the castle ruins dominate.
The first written record about the municipality comes from 1198. It has a rich history it was a seat of Turna’s District. Among cultural landmarks, the castle ruins from the 13th century, the fortified gothic “The Ascension of Virgin Mary R.C. Church” from the 14th century with unique wall paintings, a squalid renaissance manor house and the former District House are worth to attractyour attention. The protected territory - Turna’s Castle Mount with carst relief and occurrence of endemic species - “Turna’s Rumenica” dominate over the municipality. A larger pond is located westwards of the municipality. At present, 3500 inhabitants live in Turna nad Bodvou.
