Village with a rich history.
The name Zemplín is derived from the Slavic word “zem”, “zemlja” (earth) and it is a sign that the Slaves lived here. Ing. Š. Janšák, the pioneer of modern archaeology founded in 1931 the fragments of ceramics, which he designated to be the Slavic origin. On the spot of a castle there are two churches: the Calvinist one (1628), the Greco-Catholic one (the 18th century). The village has 400 inhabitants at present. Suitable conditions for tourist are here, especially for tenting and fishing, as well as for rafting down the Bodrog River. The viniculture and growing of melons is developed here. The cultural festival takes place here annually during the summer months.
