







The oldest Slovak town, about which the oldest written record is listed in the document „De Conversio Bagoariorum et Carantanorum“ as about the dedication place of the Pribina’s church in 828. Surrounded by a picturesque landscape, it is spreading under the Zobor hill, on both banks of the Nitra River. One of its attractions is represented by its historical centre created by three separate units – the Upper Town, the Lower Town and the Castle. The residence of Pribina, Svatopluk, the oldest Slavic see, a holder of heritage brought by Cyril and Methodius, is created for wandering through a history. The present Nitra is a traditional Mecca for agriculture with up-to-date industrial parks and Agrokomplex, the international fair ground. The „town of youth” is a seat of the Konstantin Philosopher University, the Slovak University of Agriculture, St. Gorazd Seminary and more scientific establishments – the Archaeological Institute of the Slovak Academy of Science, The Research Institute for Livestock Production, The Research Institute for Plastics.
