OBEC BUČANY

The municipality Bucany is located 10km from Trnava in direction to Piestany. It has 2156 inhabitants.
On the road from Trnava you will be invited by a know Motel Bucany at the beginning of the municipality. Culture House in the municipality centre is a seating place of municipal offi ce, cinema, scout club, brass – band Bucianka. The R.C. church of St. Margaret of Antiochij from the 14.- 15. century dominantes the municipality. On your walking through the municipality some statues of saints from the 18.-19. centuries will attract you attention. St. John Nepomucky, Pieta, the Holy Trinities –two statues, St. Vendelin, St. Urban in vineyards. In the past, Bucany was the residence of several notable Ugrian families, Ockay, Zay, Pongrac an Bucany, the heraldry of whose became a coat-of-arms of the municipality Bucany. The fi rst written record comes from 1258, the settlement is dated up to the 5th millennium B.C.
