The village was mentioned for the fi rst time in 1253. It was founded by joining of three parts: Orechová Potôn, Förge Potôn and Dolná Potôn. The village is located in the centre of Žitný Ostrov (the Rye Island). It has a good infrastructure and services. Number of inhabitants: 1,750, number of houses: 523. The area of the village is 2,303 ha. Slovakiaring is located near the village.
