







The first written records of Tornala comes from the 11th – 13th century. In 1853-1960 it was the district town and it was associated with Rimavská Sobota. In1990 the town Šafárikovo received the original historical name Tornala. The historical monuments are the church from the 15th century, the mansion of Tornallyay family and the statue of St. John Nepomucký in Králik. The town tributary area provides the optimum conditions for the rural and learning tourism (educational trails, theGothic road). The town summer centre is the beach swimming pool Morské oko with an option to dive up to depth of 40 m. The industrial park with a capacity of 600 jobs was completed in July 2011.
