







The oldest town of Novohrad region, which dominates the Fiľakovo Castle.
The town is located on the margin of Protected Landscape Area Cerová vrchovina Highland. The first written record comes from 1246. The historical centre of the town includes the National cultural monuments, as the Filakovo Castle (1246) and the Roman-Catholic church (1694-1727). The Castle Museum was opened in 2008. The visitors can see also the restored spaces of Town Museum and the newly established Palóc Gallery. The Novohrad Tourist and Informational Centre provides the information of the town, its surrounding and the Novohrad -Nógrád Geopark with excellent conditions for tourism and learning the countryside.
