GEMERSKO-MALOHONTSKÉ MÚZEUM

The fifsth oldest museum in the Slovakia.
The museum was founded in 1882 as the district museum. Since 1910 its seat is in the building of formed artillery barracks. Besides the regional culture it is specialized to the gypsy culture. The national geography exposition presents: the geology, the biology, the archaeology, the history, the ethnology and creative art of the region. The museum owns the mummy of a wife from Egypt. Unique is a set of folk ceramics, the palaeontological and archaeological collections. Occasional exhibitions during the whole year. Open: Mo-Fri 9.00-17.00 hour, Sa-Su 9.00-16.00 hour - during season (IV.-IX.).
