The Slovak National Museum in Martin is the oldest and one of the largest sections of the Slovak National Museum.
From its very beginning it has already gathering into its collections the objects from various corners both from Slovakia and abroad. The collection objects of nationalgeography feature, historical, ethnographic, numismatic, artistic and historical, natural-science, archival and book collections have got into its custody. Together it administers nearly three quarters of a million collection objects. Since 2004 the Slovak National Museum in Martin consists of seven specialized museums. The main building at Malá hora 2 is a residence of the Ethnographic Museum. The building of Ethnographic Museum building built in the style of functionalism in the 30s of the 20th century, familiarizes visitors with the objects of everyday way of life of our ancestors.
