







At present it is the centre of both the inland and foreign tourist traffic at the Zemplínska Šírava.
The first written mention of the village comes from 1336, whereby according to nonexisting Greco-catholic chronicle the village was founded still in the 12th century. In the past the village inhabitants dealt especially with agriculture, i.e. cattle breeding and wine growing. At present, after the water basin Zemplínska Šírava (1996) has been established, the village inhabitants aimed to the activities in the area of the travel traffic and the rural tourism. Due to specific natural conditions the territory is being looked after by the tourists and holiday-makers not only from the Slovakia but also from abroad (Poland, Germany, Netherlands, Hungary).
