The village lies in the territory of Záhorská Lowland, surrounded with pinewood.
The village became independent in 1927 from the village Borský Svätý Peter, 1,090 inhabitants. Peter Jilemnický worked here at school in 1930. In 2007 the golf area began to be built. It is a famous locality for mushroom-pickers.
