The village Likavka lies on the right riverside of Váh close to the town Ružomberok. It is the one of the oldest villages in the Liptov Region. The village dominates the Castle Likava built on rocky hill of Predný Choč Mount. The castle was demolished on order of Francis Rákoczi II in autumn of 1707 during the professional uprisings. Today it is partially reconstructed and available for tourists. The Neo-Gothic Roman-Catholic St. George Church is located in the village. The annual Children Folklore Festival in June hold in the open-air amphitheatre below the Castle Likava and the biennial Slovak Show of Children Folklore Groups are organized here. The Liberation Race to win the challenge cup of village mayor is organized in April. The village provides good conditions for tourism, including tennis courts, football and volleyball playground, skate track and ice-rink.
