







The village Dolná Tižina lies in the Terchová’s spur of Žilina Basin, district Žilina. It has 1,306 inhabitants and an area of 13,11 ha. The first written record datesfrom 1439, where the village is mentioned as Chysina, from 1920 Dolná Tižina. The village belonged to the dominion of Old Castle (Starý hrad), later on to the manor Strecno. One of the oldest buildings is the Rectory – built in 1789, and the Stone Bridge. The village dominates the Roman Catholic Church of St. Archangel Michael from 1875.
