







Medzilaborce – the Town of Andy Warhol
Medzilaborce is located in the Laborecká Highlands, in the east part of Slovakia. The oldest record comes from 1347 and as a town it is mentioned for the fi rst time in 1543. The district town it is again since 1996. The surrounding countryside includes the skiing sites, tracks for walking-tours and cycling. In 1991 the Museum of Modern Art was open, the only institution in Europe devoted to the work and origin of Andy Warhol. The townbecame famous by its Festival of Culture and Sport, which will celebrate the 50. Anniversary in 2012. Another attraction of the town is the open-air museum of Ruthenian village.
