







The first written record about the village comes from 1214, known by goose junkets and pilgrimage festivals.
The oldest building is the church from 1617 devoted to the Birth of St. John the Baptist. The most attractive building is the Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows from 1750. The pilgrimage use to be organized every yard on 15th of August. The village has 23 goose operations where the goose specialities are served – roast goose, goose liver, “lokše” (potato-dough pancakes) sloshed on with goose fat and with liver, home-made strudel, young wine and excellent wines from the Malé Karpaty region. The village was awarded in 2006 by the European Commission in Brussels with the Big Prize of jury EUROPEAN ENTERPRISE AVARDS for the most creative and the most inspiring business initiative with the Europe. The folklore group HUSIARIK operates in the village.
