The town Gbely has 5149 inhabitants and it is situated in the northwest part of Záhorie region.
The first historically documented mention comes from 1392. Gbely created a part of manor of Holíč; it belonged to its owners and since 1736 to the Habsburgers. The sealer with circle lettering SIGILLUM OPPIDI EGBELIENSIS A.D. 1700 assigns the Gbely town at the very beginning of 18th century as the small town (oppidum).
