







The town of Nové Zámky – the centre of Podunajská lowland.
The town of Nové Zámky, built as a renaissance fortress against Turks, arose on the banks of the river Nitra on the highly frequented crossing of the Kingdom of Hungary in 1576 – 1580. In 19th century it became the important railway junction of Southern Slovakia, only one hundred kilometres from the capital city of Bratislava. This location is still very important. Nowadays, the town is able to meet the requirements of the lovers of history, culture, sport, and beauty of nature. It is natural part of the inhabitants´ lives to keep traditions and customs and arrange celebrations and festivals regularly.
