







The village Vlcany is located on the Danube Lowland, close to the Vah and Little Danube Rivers, which are characterized by fertile earth, warm climate and rich occurrence of hyper-thermal water springs.
The first written record about the village, in the form of FORCAS, was preserved in the deed from the year 1113. During the period between two World Wars, Vlcany was the largest village of the district Sala. Number of inhabitants 3421, the area 39,760 km2. The village operates 2 elementary schools and kindergarten with the lessons in the Slovak and the Hungarian languages. The village possesses four churches. The church of Reformatted religion was built in 1785, The R.C. church comes from 1803. Further, there are the Evangelic church and the Kingdom Hall (Jehovah’s Witnesses) in the village. Tourism - in the village area there are several lakes, which originate from the old branch of theVah River. Two lakes are used for fishing. In the locality Barkat there is the geothermal bore, the water temperature is 68 °C with the well yield of 7.6 l/s.
